WMC '08.

The madness began on Tuesday night.

I'm heading down south again in a bit.
Too much to write about, but i'll do so after the week is over, probably on Monday.

Here is some dope muzak: Oh! (A-Trak Remix)- Boys Noize (zshare)
I will be seeing both of these dukes today.

Anyone else going to be in Miami for the rest of the week?
Let me know!

Celebrating for Theo.

i have awful news.

Im sorry to post something upsetting on my blog, but i need to share this with all my readers.

Yesterday around 7pm, sir theodore, my hedgie, passed away.
=(

I really dont know what to say...
I noticed my little boy was wobbling here and there for a couple days, so i decided to research what was going on. I found out that a common disease in hedgehogs is something called WHS, wobbly hedgehog syndrome, yes.. google it, it's legit.

Although little Theo had been acting completely normal, running around, playing, sprinting laps.. you know.. doing his hedgehog thing, he wasnt putting on any weight. I had been making sure he was eating and drinking, since it didnt seem he was doing it on his own.

Often when he woke up, his belly was cold and he seemed weak/wobbly, so i would give him a heating pad and do my best to keep him all snuggly and warm.

Call me crazy, i dont care, but i had a really intense bond with Theo. The 10 days that i had him were awesome. No matter what happened during the day, it was okay because when i came home i would just hang out with Theo, he made me very happy.

I told everyone about him... he even has his own myspace and hes been mentioned on numerous blogs.

It doesnt matter if its a donkey or an ant.., a soul is a soul.. and Theo had a very good soul. My little boy was the best, he gave me amazing vibes and kept me smiling all the time.

When i left the house yesterday morning i woke him up to play with him but just got a really weird feeling about my day. My best friend felt it too, she even texted me around 4 asking if there was something wrong with me... I just didnt feel right. For some odd reason, the first thing i did when i came home was open Theo's cage... only to find him weak and breathing slowly.

He died next to me under a heat lamp, i sat with him for an hour and 1/2 until he stopped breathing...

Ugh. I feel like crap. I wish there was something i could do, but all i can think about are his little legs running around my house, exploring. The place where i got him told me i could have another, but right now i dont want another.. how can i have another Theo? I just dont think it sounds right.. it just wasnt meant to be. I woke up one morning and just decided to get a hedgie, i walked into the store and said i want HIM... he was the one for me!!

Maybe he found peace with me...

I love you Sir Theodore, rest your soul. I appreciate you so much!

Here are some good memories of my little baby.

Sucks, this week is WMC. I've already been going out and doing my thing. Im dedicating the ENTIRE week to Theo... every drink & every smile is for my wobbly little dude.
I will post an update with my WMC shenanigans very soon.

Peace & Love.

why Walmart, why?

QUESTIONABLE STRAW SHAPE SOLD AT WALMART UPSETS MOTHER
(news link)

_______________________

ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A mother says the straws she bought for her three-year-old daughter were shaped like a male sex organ.

Andrea Bailey says she went shopping at the Ashland Wal-Mart on Thursday, February 28th, and bought a package of fun straws for her three 3-year-old daughter, Ashlynn.

Bailey says Ashlynn came in and used one shaped like a heart. A couple others in the package, though, were shaped like something different.

"There are two of them that are shaped like the male private area," said Bailey. "I called Wal-Mart and they very rude with me about it. They acted like I was lying, like I was making it all up. You know, I would never make something up like that, especially about my little girl. But, that's just how they treated me and it's just not right."

A communications representative at Wal-Mart corporate headquarters e-mailed us a response.

"At Wal-Mart we take customer questions and concerns seriously," said the spokesperson in a statement. "After being contacted on this matter, Wal-Mart pulled the product in question from our shelves and is investigating the claim. Of course, our customer is welcome to return the item for a refund, if they would like."

Wal-Mart informed us the straws came from a manufacturer called Eagle Marks Corporation. We could not obtain contact information for the company from our own search or Wal-Mart officials.

Andrea Bailey says her concern is not the $1.69 she paid for the straws, but what might happen to other families with kids a little older than Ashlynn.

We searched at three other Wal-Mart stories in three different states last week, and found no fun straws on any shelves.

A Wal-Mart corporate communications spokesperson told us the regional stores were aware of the flap, and Wal-Mart was reviewing the product.

A new man in my life.

So yea, i live by myself and i can't have a dog.... but i knew i needed a pet.

Like i posted a few entries back, i had a hedgehog when i was younger for 5 years. Over the last 3-4 weeks i've been looking at the cutest pics/vids of hedgehogs and realized that i should have one, again.
I went to the same place i bought Sniffler from years ago, they had 5 baby hedgehogs.

Meet my new best friend.
Ladies, I present to you...

My 3 month old bebeh hedgie.

ADD him on myspace to keep up with all his crazy adventures.

Peace & Love.

skydiving.

Everyone in the world should jump from the sky at least once.

I love skydiving.

When i have some extra cash, i plan on completing my AFF levels so i can get my license and jump solo all the time!!!

This is the best feeling in the world and i recommend that everyone tries it, even if youre scared of heights.
I promise you, all of your fears will become inexistent after you jump for the first time!

happy/unhappy things.

HAPPY

1. Easter eggs
So, i was at publix doing my grocery shopping when i came across some really really cool colored hard boiled eggs for $1.99.
How cute are these things?

They go well with my kitchen!

2. Easter
While on the topic of Easter eggs, i've realized that I must have an obsession with Easter or something. I mean, i don't even celebrate it, but i've realized i love easter themed stuff. About a month ago i was in Target (one of my favorite stores) and i saw these cute little cups!

I knew Target was selling them just in time for easter, i had to buy two!

3. Target
Speaking of Target... it just rules. I know everyone loves Target... i mean really, how can you go wrong? It is my #1 convenient store.

They even have escalators for your carts... talk about convenience.

4. Green lights
Speaking about convenience, how good does it feel when you get consecutive green lights?
It always puts me in a good mood, especially if im on the way to school.

5. Good parking spots
Speaking of school..... the FAU parking lot BLOWS, along with many other school lots. The trick is to get to school about 5 minutes before previous classes get out, hang out on the side of the lot.. and as soon as that class gets out, youll get the #1 spot.
I feel so good when i get a good parking spot, it starts my day out well.

6. Groovy tunes
All these happy feeling things make me feel like hearing this song:
WHAM!- Wake me up before you go go!
ORANGE MOCHA FRAPPUCCINO!

Also, i've been dancing around to this track recently...
Larry Levan- Is it all over my face

UNHAPPY

1. Red lights
Why is it that when you get 1 red light, ALL the lights are red?
Seriously, this sucks... & it always happens to me if i leave my house at the wrong time.

2. Captchas
Speaking of red lights... captchas suck too! Those stupid computer verification things on myspace and other sites. I didnt even know what they were called until i read the little notice on myspace "blahblah's settings require you to solve a CAPTCHA." It's such an annoying word too, CAPTCHA!! Just scream it out loud, lol, who made this word up? I had to make a new music myspace yesterday, so i sent out some invites... but had to solve about 60 of these things. I have a friend automator, but it doesnt work with those damn things.

AHH! I HATE YOU CAPTCHA!!!!!

3. SOLD OUT MINI EGGS!
Okay so... while on the subject of captchas, i have terrible news... it seems as though Publix has sold out of Cadbury mini chocolate eggs. I blogged about them last week, so it's quite possible that everyone in South Florida saw my blog and bought out the mini eggs. When i have friends over, i let them have my eggs... and now i have none. I had them on my list for Publix yesterday, but all they had was dark chocolate. Also, i went to Target with my dad last week, and they had tons! I picked up a bag and told my dad i was buying them for him, 2 seconds later about 40 chocolate eggs were on the Target floor, =(. The bag must've been open, but i picked every egg up.

Hm, ok well.. not much else to say, thats all!

Peace & Love.

PSA: making the switch.

No, not from PC to Mac, rofls...

But, from DJ Bana to banaboogie.

For years, all over the internet my user name for everything and anything has been DJ Bana...

Well, as my DJing career is expanding, i've officially changed my name from DJ Bana to just banaboogie.

Im in the middle of changing all my accounts to the banaboogie username, but its not that easy. So, i wanted to give a little announcement just to let people know that the name is banaboogie, =).

This name originated back in middle school... when i realized i was obsessed with bananas & that i
love love love to boogie.

So yes, BANA IS SHORT FOR BANANA. I love monkeys & nanners 4L.
A DJing banana, yup.. thats me!

PS: While on the topic of monkeys, check out this amazing gorilla video that i recorded a couple nights ago with a few friends.

First, watch this:

Here is our remix (I hosted it to my brand spankin' new banaboogie YouTube account):

another day in the m.i.a.

What a surprise! My awesome friend Sydni messaged me on Friday letting me know she'd be in town for a few days and wanted to see me. This chick is the bomb, so of course she was going to stay at my place! Also, my buddies Sarah & Tara were in town + my big bro & his crew. After having a chill Friday night with the peeps, Yumna & I decided we would go on our Miami routine with our friends.

We took them to our FAVORITE thrift store, Red White & Blue, located in Miami. There are a couple of awesome places to thrift in Miami. I always find the coolest stuff for dirt cheap, shirts, skirts & shorts for as cheap as $1, cute shoes for $4! A few months ago I even found 2 pairs or original Nike Bakins for 10 bucks each. If you're in town, i'd recommend to check out a few of them... one of the best thrifting areas is Flamingo Plaza, located in Hialeah.. this place is heaven!

If youre not big into thrifting, try it! You never know what you may find!

I spent a whopping $30 and left with 10 items, including these:

A cool green pot ($4) & mushroom salt/pepper shakerssssss ($3).

If you ever get a chance to check out the Red White & Blue on NE 6th Ave, you MUST go next door (on the south side), theres this awesome accessory store. I bought a bunch of cool hair pieces, jewelery, etc. for only $9.

We then took everyone to South beach, where we went to the usual spots.. Kid Robot, Urban Outfitters & American Apparel.. blah blah.

I met the Fafi x Mac dolls.

A few random pickups:

AA skirt, & some of my thrift store stuffzz.

A limited edition reversed smorkin' watermelon (for some reason i always get the mystery toys in my box!), some accessories (from that amazing spot) & a flask.

Conclusion: I love Miami. I love my adventures. This city is wonderful. I have a huge appreciation for South Florida in general. There is so much culture, so many unknown cool shops/restaurants, so many cool shows/festivals... and of course,

the sun is always shining!

Just for the sake of my Miami post, one of my favorite theme songs:
Miami- Will Smith

And also, i've been listening to a lot of old Craig David... his music is so chill & sexy:
Fill Me in- Craig David

and no, i ain't been to MIA.

This post is dedicated to the top 5 things i like RIGHT NOW!!

1. The legend. The Man.
Bob Marley

Marley fest was amazing this year. It was my 3rd year & definitely the best.
Bob Marley brings people together,
appreciated.
Chilling. Peaceful. Love. Music.

2. American Boy Ft. Kanye West- Estelle.

This track makes me so happy. I've been listening to it for a while and i just cant stop!
The video is cute too,
appreciated.

Download the song HERE.
3. Time Capsule.

Steve Jobs announced the new product Time Capsule back in January.
I have been waiting on this product since the day it was first discussed.
Basically, its an external hard drive... a wireless one. It comes in the option of 500GBs and 1 TB. (1000 GBs).
Oh wait, i forgot to mention that its ALSO a wireless router (Airport Extreme), which is super fast and has 3 Ethernet ports! Time Capsule is available at any Apple retail store or online.

A wireless tera byte external hard drive router,
appreciated.
Wirelessly: Access your files, backup your hard drive, print, have fuego internet.. etc.
WOWZAAA!

I had to share my love for this awesome machine. Check it out on the Apple website for Time Capsule + many more awesome Apple gadgets.

4. Cadbury's chocolate eggs.

Oh, what a treat.
When it's easter time, i always look for Cadbury's chocolate eggs.

I'm from England, so obviously.. American chocolate doesn't cut it for me.
Every time I travel to England, I bring back bags of goodies, =).
FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY you can experience delish chocolate for under $4,
appreciated!
Look for them in Publix, i guarantee you'll be happy.
5. Mercy Corps.
I love love love this organization.
I've been donating to Mercy Corps for about 2 years now, and i always stay up to date with all of the news they post on their page, along with the action they are taking to help.
I honestly don't like talking blatantly about donating to organizations, but i feel it's important for everyone to take a step back and look at something that they truly feel passionate about and see if there is maybe a way to offer help to those in need.
It can be anything... from saving money for children to have music instruments to cleaning up the beach.
Mercy corps specifically provides aid to to those in poverty and those who are oppressed by helping them grow within their communities,
appreciated.

What i love most about this organization is that with a monthly donation you can choose a specific place that it is going to, like books for children or emergency assistance from natural disasters. It's really cool and there is a lot of great stuff to learn from their website, so check it out HERE.

the delano hotel.

This has been my favorite hotel for years. My mom took me down to South Beach for tea at the Delano when i was about 10, and ive loved it ever since. This hotel is directly on South Beach (1685 Collins Ave), its stunninggggggggg. Ian Schrager owns the Delano, but Madonna is an investor, which adds to its brilliance. Everything about it, from the architecture & elevators to the food & decor, makes this my all time favorite hotel. The Delano was designed by Phillippe Starck (please go to his site and check out his architecture!!)

The worst part is that i've never stayed there.. BUT, If you ever want to surprise me, spend $400 bucks on a room here, haha.
Most of the time i'm in the area, i stop by for a drink or just to show my friends, =).

If you ever get a chance to go to the Delano, these are some of the cool things you should check out:
* Furniture in the pool
* Crazy colored elevators
* Over priced gift store
* Life sized chess in the garden
* Amazing furniture in the lobby, you can spend hours taking photos here!

... ahh, breathtaking.
